Introducing... Santogold
Santogold first came to our attention thanks to her appearance on Mark Ronson’s ‘Version’ singing the excited vocal on 'Pretty Green' . She's based in New York and has helped write songs for the likes of Lily Allen and Ashlee Simpson
Since 'Version', the name Santogold has been heard wherever hipster live. The NME love her and we were getting a bit worried that we were looking forward to disappointment. Her first single 'Creator' was loud, noisy and sounded a lot like M.I.A. . Been there, done that.
But here comes a change. We've just got her 2nd single 'L.E.S. Artists' in the post and we absolutely love it. This time round Santogold sounds a lot like Karen O , the singer with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs , and sings chillingly & sincerely with an epic chorus and the soul stealing lyric 'I can say I hope it will be worth what I give up'.
Here's the video, do you like it?
