How do I hear audio on hit40uk.com?
The hit40uk website has it's own inbuilt audio player in the top-left corner, which streams whatever you've chosen to listen to through the site - such as a 30 second clip of a track, a podcast, or an interview. If you click through to a different page on the site while the track is playing, then it will stop - though you can avoid this by loading the hit40uk site in an additional window - one for audio, one for browsing the site.
Can I use the music on my PC and portable player?
The music format we use is Windows Media Audio (WMA). These tracks are encoded (copied) at 192kbps WMA and are protected by Microsoft Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM)
You will need to ensure that you have the following:
- Computer Operating System (OS) : Windows 98 SE or higher
- Internet Browser : Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher
- Computer Music Player: Windows Media Player 9 or higher
- Your Cookies and Javascript has to be activated in your Internet Browser
Please note - downloads will NOT play on iPods, MP3 or WMA players that do not support Windows DRM.
How do I find the music on my PC, once I have downloaded it?
By default, tracks are saved in your “My Music” folder on your PC which is located in "My Documents". You can access "My Documents from “Start” button in the bottom left hand corner of your PC. Once you have listened to the track it will become listed in your Windows Media Player library.
How do I transfer the music to my other portable music players?
To transfer tracks to a Windows Media File supported portable device using Windows Media Player:
- Connect your portable device to your PC
- Click the "Sync" or “Copy to CD or Device” tab within Windows Media Player.
- Click "Edit Playlist" and add the tracks that you want to transfer to the playlist.
- Click “Start Sync” or “Copy”.
